Good seamanship includes knowing as much as possible about the weather you may encounter during your time on the water. We suggest you take advantage of the links on this page that are relevent to your voyage. Weather links include weather in the area around the mouth of the York and Poquoson Rivers, and the weather offshore between the Baltimore and Hatteras Canyons outside the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. Tide links include the astronomical tide forecast for the mouth of the York as well as the operational tide forecast for the next 24 hours for the same area. The operational tide forecast makes corrections to the long range perdictions based on expected wind and barometric conditions, and is remarkably accurate. So whatever your intent whether fishing, treading for clams, or simply out for a ride, check the appropriate links and have a GREAT DAY on the water.
