Dare Marina and Yacht Sales is one of the Chesapeake Bay’s best kept secrets. We are located on the tranquil shores of Chisman’s Creek in York County, Virginia. The area is a Boaters Paradise, with quick access to the Chesapeake Bay, a short run (less than 25 miles) to Cape Henry and the Atlantic Ocean, and easy access to the York River, Hampton Roads, and some of the best fishing grounds in the state.
Dare Marina is a sub-chapter S corporation, incorporated in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The property has been operated as a marina for over 30 years, and has been doing business under the name of Dare Marina and Yacht Sales for approximately 10 years. Our facilities include a large covered dry-storage building, two multi-tier outside storage racks, over 500 feet of pier with finger piers for perpendicular mooring, and numerous racks for storage and maintenance. All told, we can accommodate storage of over 300 boats in our facility. A second large building houses our ship’s store, offices, and engine service facilities.
At Dare Marina & Yacht Sales, we are boat people. We grew up right here on the Chesapeake Bay and we appreciate the incredible beauty that the Bay and its tributaries offer to the boater. We also understand the harsh conditions the Bay and Atlantic Ocean can throw at Tidewater boaters, and the need for a solid and well maintained vessel. Many on our staff are active boaters and yachtsmen and some hold Coast Guard licenses for commercial activities in the small boat field.
When we set about determining the new boat lines we would offer, we reached into this experience to assemble the finest lines of boats available for our area, addressing both the types of conditions we most often encounter, and the extremes. We offer the brutally strong PARKER BOATS. We also have a very active brokerage operation, with a large line of boats suitable for all desires and circumstances. Come see us and you will find we have the right equipment and knowledge for the uncompromising waters of the lower Bay and the fishing waters of the Atlantic.
Life on the lower Chesapeake is tied to water as much as land. Dairy cattle graze on one side of Dare Marina, an historic marine railway borders another. Working watermen berth nearby, using the protected waters of Chisman Creek for fast access to the open bay. Dare Marina provides safety, serenity, and fun for our boating community as they enjoy the wonders of the Chesapeake Bay.
